André GIRAUD - BELIVIER
POMEROL (Bordeaux)

For over half a century, it belonged to the Bélivier de Pomerol family, who sold it in 1975 to the Giraud Lucien family. In 1905, the "Domaine de Lacombe" was added to the estate, and in 1974 "Le Clos Lacombe".

The vineyard covers 7 hectares, and carries the Pomerol appellation. One plot of the vineyard is located on the plateau of Pomerol, in the locality called Catusseau. The rest of the vineyard is located in the North West of the appellation.

The soil is a mixture of sand and gravel over clinker. We cultivate Pomerol noble grape variety as with predominance of Merlot (75%) and of Cabernet Franc (25%). The vines are on average 25 years old.

Following full ripening, the grapes are hand picked by local staff. They are left to macerate for 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the vintage, to extract a maximum amount of tannins.

Fermentation is performed in traditional vats. Two thirds of the wine is aged in oak barrels, and one third in concrete vats, with a 3 month rotation corresponding to racking. The vintage is supervised by the oenologist, Mr. Gilles Pauquet. The average annual production is 35 casks, or approximately 40,000 bottles.

Our wine has a distinctive bouquet and an elegant finesse.
