Jérôme BERTRAND-BERGE FITOU (Languedoc - Roussillon) ![]() ![]() In the heart of the Appellation Fitou county, in the village Paziols, the profession of winegrower has been transmitted with passion for six generations in the Bertrand-Bergé family. With the help of my family I have run the Domain since 1993, the year when I bottled my first vintage. The history of the Bertrand family has been closely interlinked since the beginning of the last century as well for the father side of the Bertrand family as for the mother side of the Bergé family. ![]() ![]() My ancestor, Jean SIRVEN (Bergé side of family), opened the way to notoriety, by receiving a gold medal at the Paris Universal Exposition 1900. In 1998, I also received a first recommendation for a “Coup de Coeur” from the “Guide Hachette”, as a recompense for “my work and my talent as a winegrower”. The estate extends over 33 hectares, on clayey, calcareous soil, scattered with pebbly shingle. The vines are on average 60 years old and are of low yield. The planted grape varieties are varied. Black Grenache and Syrah are among the varieties, as Carignan which flourishes here. ![]() ![]() Optimising soil and grape variety, the care taken over the vines, the use of traditional methods and a fully equipped modern winery, have allowed us to present today a range of very high quality wines and to approach with confidence the coming years. Whether we speak over Fitou, Muscat de Rivesaltes, Rivesaltes, they are all known and appreciated beyond our borders. Each year, a growing number of satisfied customers recognize our wine quality.
